• Copy the sounds and expressions your baby makes
• Respond warmly when they smile or coo — back-and-forth is how they learn

Simple play ideas

High-contrast pictures, an unbreakable mirror, gentle rattles, and simply being carried and talked to all support development at this age. Babies this young need connection and everyday interaction far more than toys or screens.

When to check with a professional

Mention it to your pediatrician if, by around 3 months, your baby isn't smiling socially, doesn't seem to respond to your voice or make eye contact, or you have any concerns — early conversations are always worthwhile.
